Spicy Salad with Red Cabbage

½ head red cabbage, sliced
1 pot boiling water
Ice cubes
2 T Cider Vinegar
1 T lemon juice
½ jalapeno pepper, stem and seeds removed, finely diced
1 t. ginger, peeled and finely diced
¼ t onion powder
¼ t garlic powder
3 drops Tabasco
3 drops liquid smoke
1 pkg approved sweetener
Salt and pepper to taste
1 T crushed macademia nuts
1 T chopped parsley

Directions

Bring the pot water to a boil. In your sink, prepare an ice water bath. Drop the cabbage into the boiling water and cook for 1 minute. Immediate strain and plunge into the ice water bath. Strain when cool and set aside.

Mix together the remaining ingredients and adjust spices to your taste level. You use as little or as much heat as you like. Just be sure to use fresh chilies, not canned, to stay on your hCG diet. Canned chilies are likely to have extra ingredients not approved for hCG diet recipes.

Once the dressing is mixed well and seasoned, toss the cabbage with the dressing and place in the refrigerator to marinate for 2 hours or up to overnight. Serve topped with the crunchy nuts and parsley for texture and visual appeal.

Cabbage salads are common. When you briefly blanch this vegetable, you get a slightly different texture. The cabbage also takes up more of the tasty. Serve with a 3 ounce portion of grilled chicken and you’ve got a great meal from your hCG diet recipes. Better yet, combine with fish if you love traditional fish tacos.
